Charles Abbott Memorial Golf Tournament Takes a Swing at Another Successful Tourney
Over 100 players participated in the 14th Annual Charles Abbott Memorial Golf Tournament held at the Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point on Monday, October 14. Funds raised from the tournament benefit THINK Together and the Boys and Girls Club of the Los Angeles Harbor.
In memory of Charley Abbott, a gentleman who was passionate about golf and working with underprivileged youth, the golf tournament was established to combine his life’s two passions and honor his legacy. In the last twelve years, the tournament has raised more than $200,000 to support the two charities.
“Charley would have been so proud to see all of our friends gathered together, having a wonderful time and supporting these two great organizations,” said Susan Abbott, wife of Charles and long-time volunteer at THINK Together’s Shalimar Learning Center. “THINK Together has grown tremendously over the years. It feels really good to be a part of that growth.”
It was a hole in one for everyone involved. Thanks to the generosity of one of THINK Together’s board members, Tony French, five students from the Shalimar Teen Center were able to participate in the tournament’s evening reception by welcoming our golfers back from their afternoon out on the golf course. The students not only had the opportunity to network with the golfers, but they concluded the evening with a beautiful sunset over the Pacific Ocean and dinner provided by Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond rated St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort.SHARE
