School Districts are Big Business and No One Knows How They Work

In most cities and towns in America, the school district is the largest business in town. It often is the largest employer, it usually owns the most real estate, it produces arguably the most important product, and it’s owned by the taxpayers. Most people don’t think about it that way, and most don’t understand how it works.
