The THINK (Teaching, Helping, Inspiring, Nurturing Kids) Together difference:

• Providing academic support that enhances a student’s ability to fully understand his class work, rather than to simply complete his homework
• Serving more than 20,000 students through 180 daily program sites located in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
• A focus on improving students’ academic achievement and raising test scores
• One of the few after school programs in the country with built-in assessment systems to provide ongoing program and student evaluation
• Mobilizing an army of volunteers from various groups in the community to significantly reduce tutor-to-student ratios, thereby enhancing the quality of academic and enrichment programs
• Sustainable funding through fee-based enrichment programs and the next generation of school-age care

Independent evaluation results from Hoffman, Clarke and Associates, indicate improvement in our student’s academic results, and high levels of parent and teacher satisfaction:

• 65% showed significant improvement in math
• 60% showed significant improvement in reading
• Teacher surveys show:
• 73% of the students improved in homework completion
• 71% improved in overall academic performance
• Parent surveys show:
• 92% are getting better grades on their report cards
• Student surveys show:
• 68% feel better about their ability to read and speak English
• 81% are more comfortable solving math problems

THINK Together is seeking to build a financially sustainable, region-wide system of high quality after school programs.  In order to achieve this,   THINK Together needs to raise local funds from private sources and non-traditional funds from public sources.  These funds will be leveraged against state funding so that together there will be sufficient resources to provide high quality programs to tens of thousands of students every day.  This additional funding is crucial to providing the difference between merely warehousing children after school and truly improving students’ academic performance.
