In 2008, THINK Together became an approved provider of Supplemental Education Services (SES), a federally-funded free tutoring program for qualifying students.
THINK Together’s SES Tutoring Program is designed to provide small group instruction on specific student academic needs around Math and English Language Arts. Trained staff provide 32-to-40 hours per school year of individual to small group tutoring (5:1 student to staff ratio) to give students focused academic support. We designed its own curriculum with the California Standards in mind. Lessons are tailored to last 1.5 hours and are segmented into chunk-sized portions. For example, an English
Language Arts Lesson Format may include 5 minutes of warm up, 15 minutes of word analysis, 20 minutes of vocabulary development, 25 minutes of reading, 15 minutes of Test Preparation and 10 minutes of debrief.
THINK Together’s SES program was named as one of five national demonstration sites by the U.S. Department of Education to align extended learning time programs with the school day to bolster student achievement and close the achievement gap.
