Gracie’s Dreams

As New School Year Begins, Student Dreams of Becoming a
Neurosurgeon.

Despite facing insurmountable odds, Gracie dreams of becoming a pediatric neurosurgeon at the University of Michigan Hospital – the same institution that cared for her sick mother.

Gracie relocated from Michigan to California to live with her grandmother after both of her parents tragically passed away. Adjusting to a new city and school was challenging. Gracie’s grades suffered and she struggled to make friends. Thankfully, Gracie’s aunt, a former Think Together employee, recommended she join one of Think’s afterschool programs.

Think Together partners with schools to change the odds for kids like Gracie. Since joining the program, Gracie has a 4.0 grade point average and made the honor roll! Discussing the Think program staff, she says, “I have lots of people who support me.” Gracie is now excelling in school and even finding time to participate in extracurricular activities like the technology club.

Along with the academic success, Gracie has found a new community after the big move from Michigan. Sharing about her experiences with Think, she says, “It’s more like a family.” Gracie’s new “family” is here to support her as she prepares for college and her future career.

Think Together is thrilled to partner with Gracie as she pursues her dreams. There are countless other kids like her in need of an ally to help change the odds. One by one, Think will continue its mission of seeing all kids fulfill their dreams – dreams like becoming a pediatric neurosurgeon at the University of Michigan Hospital.

Dream on, Gracie!
